Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 2026

OBD Bay ("we," "us," "this site") is a free diagnostic reference tool. This policy explains what information is collected when you use the site, how it's used, and the choices available to you.

Information Stored in Your Browser

Your saved garage (vehicles you've added), theme (dark/light), and language preference are stored locally in your own browser using localStorage. This data:

Third-Party Services We Use

To look up vehicle details, OBD Bay sends VIN or year/make/model queries directly from your browser to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)'s free public vPIC API. This is a US government service; no account or personal information is required to use it. Read NHTSA's own privacy practices at nhtsa.gov.

Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which may log standard server request data (like your IP address) as part of serving the font files. See Google's Privacy Policy for details.

Advertising

This site may display ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites, and to measure ad performance. You can learn more about how Google uses data and manage your ad personalization settings at Google's Ads Policy page and Google Ad Settings.

Affiliate Disclosure

OBD Bay participates in the Amazon Associates Program and may participate in similar affiliate programs with AutoZone, Advance Auto Parts, and NAPA. This means when you click certain part links and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission — at no extra cost to you. Affiliate relationships never influence which causes, parts, or diagnostic information we show for a given code.
